When we think of corporate leadership, we instantly imagine CEOs and management teams, but the role played by boards of directors is often glossed over and underestimated. Last week, our CEO Karen Peacock joined a panel at the Fortune Brainstorm Tech Virtual conference to discuss how boards are responding to the present moment, not just from an Intercom management perspective, but also information. gleaned as a member of the Latest Mailing Database Dropbox board. .What are the unique challenges facing boards in this extraordinary time? What does the future of work look like in a post-pandemic world? How are councils responding to the wave of demands for racial justice? Karen discussed these and other topics in an engaging conversation with Christa Quarles CEO of Corel and Board Member of Affirm and Kimberly-Clark. Merlene Sintel (Board Member of GitLab, Lightspeed and Alkema Technology, among others) and David Lawes (founder and general partner of Capital and member of the boards of Lyft, Convoy and Credit Karma), chaired by Fortune writer Danielle Abril. Watch the video above or read on to Latest Mailing Database see Karen's insights from the discussion, slightly edited for clarity. Leadership during the COVID crisis We all started in the spring and summer doing a lot of scenario planning. I think scenario planning has always been in all of our playbooks, but I've never used it as extensively as I did in March, April, or May. While companies that were already a little weaker, these people are in danger of falling. "Don't just be in lockdown mode. This is your chance to really grow, to really drive some of the big transformational change "And one thing that I think is important for board members and company leaders to think about is that now is not the time to brace and hope to survive. This is the time to Latest Mailing Database progress, to really be at your best and to rise. Use this time to discover how you can better live your mission, your vision. It's a classic case of “Never waste a good crisis”. Don't just be in lockdown mode. This is your chance to really grow, to really drive some of the big transformational changes that you've wanted to drive or needed to drive. Balancing executive direction and board leadership I've always thought that serving on boards helps me be a better CEO, and being a CEO helps me be a better board member. It's just a great perspective when you look at someone else's business with an inside view and have the ability to say.
