Plot Summary

The film begins with Major Ranjeet Singh (Sanjay Dutt) leading a rescue mission to save some hostages from a terrorist camp in Pakistan. He succeeds in freeing the hostages, but is captured by the terrorist leader Bakhtawar (Rahul Dev), who tortures him mercilessly. Ranjeet's wife Pammi (Tabu) and sister Simran (Mahima Chaudhry) are informed that he is missing in action and presumed dead.

Four years later, Ranjeet is found by the Indian army near the border, but he has lost his memory and does not recognize anyone. He is taken to a hospital, where he meets his old friend Ravi (Chandrachur Singh), who is also a soldier. Ravi tries to help Ranjeet recover his memory, but Ranjeet only remembers the face of his tormentor Bakhtawar. Ravi takes Ranjeet to his home, where he reunites with Pammi and Simran, who are overjoyed to see him alive. However, Ranjeet still does not remember them or his past life.

Ranjeet slowly starts to adjust to his new life, but he is haunted by nightmares of Bakhtawar and his torture. He also faces hostility from some of Ravi's relatives, who think he is an impostor. Meanwhile, Bakhtawar learns that Ranjeet is alive and plans to kill him. He sends his men to India to assassinate Ranjeet, but they fail. Ranjeet also learns that Bakhtawar is behind a series of bomb blasts in India, and decides to take revenge on him.

Ranjeet joins forces with Ravi and some other soldiers to infiltrate Bakhtawar's camp in Pakistan. They manage to kill most of Bakhtawar's men, but Ravi is fatally wounded in the process. Ranjeet confronts Bakhtawar and fights him hand-to-hand. During the fight, Ranjeet regains his memory and remembers his love for Pammi and Simran. He kills Bakhtawar and returns to India with Ravi's body. He is welcomed as a hero by his family and the nation.
